Is 37 weeks full term?

Being induced in my 37th week. I recently read that 39-40 weeks was considered full term. What will be different about my baby than a baby born then?

Okay to settle things once and for all. Here is the link to ACOG's guidelines. No room for debate or interpretation. 37 weeks is considered early term and 39 weeks full term.

They've changed the guidelines. 37 weeks is late preterm. You are not considered full term until a minimum of 39 weeks now. This is very new as just two years ago when I had my second daughter they were still saying 37+ is full term and now the very same practice is telling me that 37 weeks is late preterm.

I had my son at 37 weeks - he had no problems at all apart from jaundice so he had to be woken up for feeds.
My sister had her first son at 39 weeks with no problems but her second son was about 3 days late and ended up in the ICU for a couple of days after he was born. 
All babies are different and circumstances of which they are born. Fingers crossed you have a smooth delivery and a healthy baby! (I'm sure you will) 😊

I'm being induced at 37 weeks but she warned me it's late preterm and he could be in nicu for a day or 2 for some oxygen and usually full term is considered 39-40 now

Yes it's considered early term, both of my 1st 2 daughters were born at 37 weeks, anything before that is considered premature our local hospital wasn't equipt for an early baby so I got sent to Riverside/ children's hospital to give birth to my 3rd daughter at almost 35 weeks.

I think that's considered late preterm. Babies born a little before full term have some extra problems often, like they may not be good at suck, swallow breathe, but not usually any huge problems. It's not just that they get bigger those last couple weeks, their brain develops some, too. You can look up late preterm if you like.

37 weeks is considered full term. The only difference is if you were to go past the baby would be packing on pounds over the next 3 weeks. So let's say your little babe is weighing 6 lbs or so if they were to stay in those extra weeks then they would be a couple lbs bigger.
