Does anyone else spot a couple days before and after their period?

I spot brown discharge a bit before and after and so I was wondering if this is a common experience or normal.

I do. But I never know when to count cd 1. Is cd 1 when the brown starts or is CD one when the blood starts. And when its counts as done. Like yesterday i was pinkish red and today it's a lot of liquid light pale brown.  Is the period over as soon as the blood leaves or brown lol man

Yeah I actually spot brown up to ovulation. And then I think some of the spotting is ovulation too? I don’t know it’s weird. Lol I do ovulate early on CD 11 though.

Usually I spot for a few hours anywhere between an hour and an entire day. Very annoying because cramps are very bad during this and it won’t come out 😓 then usually I bleed all brown or mostly brown the first day (though it’s not spotting anymore, it’s like a full on bleed but all brown) and then the following day it turns red.
I count CD 1 as the first day of a full bleed, regardless of whether it’s brown or red. I don’t count the spotting. And the way I distinguish between spotting and full-bleed is whether I need a full pad yet or if a panty liner is good enough. Not an exact science but 🤷🏻‍♀️
