Friendly conversation?

Hey ladies. I could use some advice.

Sorry in advance if this is long!

A few months ago, I started a new job, but was only there for about a month before accepting a position elsewhere.

During my time there, I was friendly with two of my co-workers. I was really surprised that they kept in touch with me, since I was there for only a short period of time.

Anyway, one of them is a seemingly happily married man with kids close in age to mine. We seem to have a lot in common, and had great conversation when I worked there.

Well occasionally, he will text me to see how things are, but then will throw out random compliments like how lucky he was to have met me even if it was short term, how funny I am, etc.

I’ve always just taken this as polite, friendly small talk. Then today he sends a text saying that I should never change my humor because “it’s perfect. Just like you.”

Uhh.. this is just more polite, small talk, right?

I don’t want to make something out of nothing, but I don’t know how to respond to something like this. Is this normal friendly conversation between friends?

I told my husband that he would randomly text and he thinks he is just being friendly, but this last text has me feeling awkward. Am I over reading into this?
