Should the companies that manufactured Teflon be held responsible?

🙂🙃

I recently watched the documentary “the devil we know” which is about the use of Teflon on nonstick cookware. Basically it was manufactured by the companies 3M and DuPont since the 1960’s. After a court order in 2000 the companies were made to release findings on four decades worth of research they had done into the dangers of the chemical they use to make Teflon and the courts found that they had known that it was linked to health issues like cancers, birth defects, etc. but never released knowledge of it and continued to manufacture their products knowing the harm they caused. They also leaked much of the waste from this chemical into waterways and after EPA started monitoring levels in drinking water they found that it had contaminated virtually everything and can be found in waterways across the world now. These companies did have a lawsuit against them and they did end up paying money to settle it, but I can’t help but think that these companies poisoned millions of people for decades knowingly and have now made it a permanent part of our environment as the EPA found the chemical doesn’t degrade in the environment. Should these companies be held accountable for more?
