Is it rude/inappropriate to ask for female doctor? (See description)

Recently I switched doctors offices and at this specific doctors office they have male and female doctors and they assigned me to male. Is it rude or inappropriate to ask to switch?

No its your heath care were talking about and if your not comfortable with ypur doctor your more likely to hold things back worrying about judgment or whatever other things it may be. I requested a doctor switch and it was completely fine with the people at my drs office i just had to get it confirmed with my insurance and everything went fine. Like i said before its YOUR health were dealing with so your comfort is more important than worrying about offending someone. But thats just my opinion. Hope you get things the way you feel happy with!! 😊🌸

You have a right to choose your doctor. I personally happen to love my male doctor over the female. You would think the female is more sympathetic. But my male doctor has been very supportive and sympathetic. He was the reason we found out I had a 15cm cyst that he removed. When a female nurse practitioner told me the pain I was feeling was menstrual cramps. 😑 not saying all females are the same. But no if you are comfortable with a female ask for her instead.

Before I got pregnant at 18 I never really saw my dr and he was a male, after getting pregnant I left his practice and found a female dr. Nothing wrong with him, just made me more comfortable and made me feel like I can be more open about my health

I always ask for a female doctor because thats what im comfortable with. Its your health and your body and if youre not comfortable with a male do whats right for you. Im sure they see it all the time.

Shoot I accidentally clicked yes. Perfectly fine to ask for a female doctor if that’s what you’re more comfortable with. I think it’s only inappropriate when you choose one sex over the other because of perceived levels of intellect based on sex.
