I came across an article and was wondering what everyone thoughts are on the owner decision.

I agree with the owner. It’s their private business, and they have the right to control content. I don’t have a problem with racy humor, but no rape jokes shouldn’t be a too high standard.

If you can’t be funny without making racist and sexist jokes, then maybe you’re just not funny. She’s the owner and can do whatever she wants at her own place.

It's her place.🤷‍♀️ At least she offered refunds and didn't just kick everyone out on their asses. Its comedy. I expect most of it to be crude. Was she expecting knock knock jokes?

Comedians should punch up, not down. Jokes about minorities and women arent funny, unless they're done in a way that pokes fun of the status quo and those in power who look to oppress those groups. I'm tired of white male comedians perpetuating this idea that they're not allowed to be funny anymore because of PC culture. Your jokes are just old and stale, bro.

I mean, it's her business so she can do it if she wants and if she doesn't want to allow that type of comedy, then that's her right. However, I disagree with her comment about how "no woman in the world would have felt safe there" as some people like offensive humor.

As the owner she is allowed to shut down whatever she wants. She also has to know that just because she is offended by something, it doesnt mean the entire population is.

At the end of the day It’s her club. But comedy is comedy, and if someone is uncomfortable in any given situation they are able to leave. I can’t stand how everyone is offended these days and comedy is the one thing that allows people to make fun of stuff that is going on. If people are easily offended they should figure out who they are going to see before they go see them and decide if they can handle it or not. It would prevent a lot of issues if people just did some research.

She can shut it down if she wants but I don’t agree with her saying that women wouldn’t have felt safe being there. Plus if she was really worried about what others would do when getting on stage don’t you think the smart thing would have been for her to screen these people before allowing them to get up there?
