Newborn twins share a crib?

Question

In a conversation with my mom, she said not to worry about buying two cribs right away. All her friends who have had twins just put them in the same crib until they got big enough to keep each other awake. What are your thoughts on this?

For the first few weeks, they shared in my room. When I moved them into their room, we used separate cribs. However, they are now 11 and have separate twin beds. We put them to sleep in their own beds, but by morning, they are together in one. It’s kinda adorable.

I'm having mine share a crib for the first few months. I've heard a lot of pediatricians actually suggest it but a few months in I plan to buy another crib. But as they get bigger I'd like them to have their own.

My mom who is also a twin mom said my sisters always shared a bed they wouldn't sleep unless together (they are identical). My sister also said the same thing about her twin boys. With this advice I only bought one crib this only lasted about 3 months before my daughter (boy/girl twins) would kick and fuss until she was alone in the crib.

I say do what you feel comfortable with! Honestly my firstborn hated his crib and wouldn’t sleep in it until he was a little bigger. So, I’m kinda just planning to play it by ear and see what they like :) however, I’m not opposed to crib sharing in the beginning if it’s what works for them!

My Identical twins are 5 days old and have shared a crib/ bassinet since they were born, including while we were in the hospital. They fuss and put hands up when they get hot but I couldn’t imagine separating them.

My husband and I bought 2 cribs, but we only set up 1 in their nursery and the other in our bedroom, since we wanted them close to us when we took them home. Once they started fussing and waking each other up, we moved both cribs to their nursery.

Um no. I really feel like you should buy two cribs early on. My twins shared a crib until they were able to sleep through the night/roll over consistently and that was at like 2 months. I was so glad that we bought two cribs early on because I don't know what we would've done otherwise. Plus, your twins might not like sharing a crib (which would be crazy because I feel like most twins like being close right after birth) or they would just keep each other up from the beginning, and so it's better to just get two in case something happens.

We got two cribs right away. For the first month they were home they slept in the same pack n play in our room. They would find their way next to each other in their sleep. Now they sleep in the same crib and still find their way right next to each other. They are 3months old now. I think once they get to big to be in the same crib we will start using the other one, or if they no longer sleep through the other screaming lol.
