Prolactinoma: tumor making periods irregular
Hello Ladies!
After a lifetime of very irregular periods (i’m 32) I have just been told I most likely have a prolactinoma (benign tumor on pituitary gland that creates excess prolactin hormone).
I have to schedule an MRI to confirm.
My prolactin was at 24 two years ago, 60 six weeks ago and 27 this week. (Normal high without pregnancy is max 23, most labs say 20)
Anyone else experience fluctuations like this with a prolactinoma?
I have always inquired about having pcos because of my irregularity and was always dismissed and told that being irregular is normal. It’s pretty gratifying to finally get answers (with the very slight elevation 2yrs ago, that endocrinologist also dismissed me completely because i wasn’t ttc) My new doc wants to regulate my cycle to help avoid osteoporosis in the long run, even with not ttc, and I really appreciate that.
