Mini pill BC
So this is going to be a little confusing...
I delivered at a military hospital so every doctor I would need to see is there (PCM, pediatrician, pharmacy,...).
When I was upstairs at the mother baby unit I had 3 doctors which all work on the same team downstairs at my PCM office. (confusing.. weird I know), one of the doctors prescribed me a 6 month combination BC pill with estrogen and progesterone. I didn’t take it because I read articles saying you only want the progesterone only BC pill because estrogen will dry up your breast milk.
So I had my 4-6 week check up with my PCM yesterday & brought up the concerns I had.. he checked the notes and my chart & his reaction was “hmm yeah you don’t want to take that... that must have been a mistake”... so he prescribed me the estrogen only mini pill.
Anyways, i had no instruction on when to take it. So, I read the instructions (the same folded up paper that comes in the same box with the BC) and it says “if breastfeeding take 6weeks after delivery”
The thing I’m confused about is... I remember the FIRST doctor (the one who prescribed the combination pill) told me I needed to take the BC immediately? & then after 6 months to take the mini pill....
WELL, my REGULAR PCM didn’t really instruct me on when to start the (new prescription) mini pill.
Should I start the mini pill now? Wait the 6 weeks? Or, did any of you have to take the combination pill with estrogen?
I’m an over thinker which is why I’m wondering lol🤦🏽♀️
