Bassinet or pack n play?

Question

Currently pregnant and looking for sleep options for baby. We are wanting something for beside our bed before transitioning baby to crib. I’ve looked into the halo bassinet. I’ve read great things but have also been told a pack n play with a bassinet insert is a better idea because it can be used for longer. I’m just having trouble finding one that lays flat and no incline. 
What do you use for your newborn for overnight sleep?

Pack n play. You don’t need all the special attachments just the one with the second level raised. It lasts longer and it much cheaper than the halo. It’s also nice to have if you travel.

Pack n play!!! I used a bassinet but after 6 months he couldn’t use it anymore because he started to sit up so I had to buy a pack n play. Skip the extra step!

Pack n play bassinet but just know by 3 months or so they will be to big to fit in it. So depending on how long you want baby to sleep in it. I transitioned my daughter around 10 weeks to her crib in her own room and she sleeps great

You will use it for longer, my 2 yr old is now using his as a toy box, and it's less expensive. Not to mention it's great for travel.

Here's the deal that puts the pack n play in the winning category...
A lot of kids will bond to their nighttime routine, including their bed. My youngest sister was one of those kids, and having a portable bed that she was used to sleeping in at home was the difference between her going down to sleep with ease vs. screaming all night in a hotel/family member's house. We dragged that pack n play with us everywhere we went until she outgrew it 😂 
You definitely want something that the baby will feel at home in when you're traveling, so the pack n play sort of kills two birds with one stone.

Never the bassinet for my first and ended up using just the pack and play on the high setting. It came with a bassinet attachment and diaper change attachment but I never used them, they’re still stored away. Plan to do the same thing with my next come March. No need to invest in a bunch of things. I have my pack and play upstairs in our bedroom and my sister gave me the one she had to keep downstairs in my living room when I need a safe place for baby which I need to go to the bathroom or tend to my son who’s 17 months.

I’d get the pack n play. They can be used for so many different things as opposed to a bassinet that’s just for one thing. Also, my baby didn’t like her pack n play so I had to get her a different sleep thing but at least I will still be able to use it for other things in the future so it doesn’t seem like a waste. If it were just a bassinet, I would’ve felt like I wasted my money when she didn’t like it.

This is the exact one I have and we love it! The bassinet part is flat and narrow so our son doesn’t wiggle around as much as he did in the bedside bassinet. I wish we wouldn’t have spent money on the bedside bassinet!

If you have the space in your room go for the pack and play, I bought the halo glide bassinest because we have very little space not even enough for a traditional bassinet
