How do you deal with being sick (cold or flu) while caring for a newbirn?

I have a two year old who always catches my colds. Im scared my newborn will catch it. I get sick pretty often during winter.

I had a real bad sinus infection/sore throat for like two weeks after I had my daughter. I just made sure to not cough on/at her. I breastfed her and she was just fine.

Ugh same.   I have a 1mo and just got a cold 😖  I breastfeed so I'm hoping that will help protect him plus hand washing and trying my best to not get in his face

Lots of hand washing. No kissing. It’s so hard to care for children when you feel awful. I got the stomach flu in October and my husband had to come home from work because I could barely take care of myself, let alone 3 kids. I make sure to treat symptoms so I can function. Mothers shouldn’t be able to get sick! It’s the worst.

Are you breastfeeding? 
I got a horrible stomach flu while my LO was only 6 weeks old. My husband cared for her for majority of my flu but I still breastfed her. 
As you are fighting the cold you build antibodies and your body puts a lot of them into your breast milk so the baby can help fight your cold. 
My LO never got my stomach flu 😁

If you’re breastfeeding the baby will get your antibodies and should be safe and if baby does get it it won’t be as bad as you have it. If you’re using formula I’d probably supplement with baby vitamin d drops and vitamin c too if you can to boost their immune system
