Mixed emotions - speech therapy

My daughter just had her 18m appointment and I had to be honest with her doctor.

At first I thought she was just a late bloomer in speech. She hit all her other milestones, in fact. But speech was her weakness. No matter how much we spoke to her, read to her, sang to her, she just never picked it up. Even though she understands us, with commands and such, she has no interest in talking back.

I now got her referral for speech. Just praying this early intervention is what she needs🥺

It's just hard seeing her struggle, me being a preschool teacher and knowing the developmentally appropriate stages for children, I knew she was lagging behind a bit.
