How long should my husband withhold ejaculation before giving his sample for our IUI?

We plan to start our first IUI cycle next week at some point , I am on clomid and just wondering how long he needs to “withhold” prior to giving his sample

Sometimes it don’t matter we done 3 now but I do double iuis and the first time he held for 3-4 days it was good but not high and the next time we did it we had sex the night before iui and his sperm was higher then first time this time also he waited a few days before and jt was high 28 mill after wash have him drink a lot of water night before
