Bassinet and bassinet? Or pack n play only? PLEASE READ

FTM. I have a pack n play with the bassinet part already and was planning on using that for baby to sleep in our bedroom for the first 6 months. But now I’m debating about also getting the Fisher Price Soothing Bassinet, as it is smaller (our bedroom isn’t very big) and won’t cost us anything after applying gift cards and cash we received as gifts.  Initially I thought a bassinet was a waste of money just because most have a low weight limit that baby would outgrow quickly. but the Fisher Price does have a 25 pound weight limit so it would last a bit longer, and it sways, has vibrations, etc. 
The pack and play I will keep regardless, as we travel a lot and that can be used long term. 
What’s everyone’s thoughts? Should I get the bassinet too?

There really is no need for both. You could use the gift cards and stuff for loads if other stuff.

I probably would just stick with the Pack N Play, unless space is a serious issue. Even if it has a higher weight limit, baby will probably still outgrow it developmentally fairly quickly.

I’ll be doing the pack n play first only because she can still use it once she’s older but only she’s 5-6 months she will be sleeping in her crib in her room as cute as the bassinets are you can’t use them for very long and would need to get rid of it once baby becomes mobile

Our bassinet wasn’t the weight issue. It was the height issue. We made it to 3m

Honestly even if the bassinet has a weight limit of 25 lbs. Baby will probably grow out if it before hitting the weight limit. We had my daughter in a bassinet and she grew out of I because she could reach the sides of it and woke herself up when she stretched out.

Just the pack n play. Bassinets only last a couple weeks-couple months, it’s a waste of money honestly. The baby will be in the pack n play for a year or 2, which is when some couples start trying for another baby, and you could just use it again.

I had the same debate in my head. FTM due in April. Our bedroom is small too and I measured and we can’t fit a pack n play but the baby’s room is across the house and I don’t want to walk that far that many times a night at first!  I ended up buying a fisher price stow and go on a Black Friday sale for the first couple months and then we’ll have to move baby to a crib in the other room.

Most bassinets say to stop using them once baby is rolling or starting to sit up, which would be before 25lbs. I would just use the pack n play. I used a bassinet with my son but not going to use it with the next baby

I would save the gift cards so you can get the bassinet if baby ends up really needing motion to go to sleep, but ideally you don’t want baby to get used to swaying and vibrations, etc in bed because then it will be harder to switch to a pack n play or crib when the time comes.
