pump less frequently to get more milk?

Or is it better to pump every hour, even if i’m pumping less?  I am trying to build my supply back up and have begun to pump more frequently, but now i’m only producing 1-2oz each side. If i wait longer, I get 2-3.5 each side. I am also breast feeding more frequently again, so not sure if i’m catching my supply in the in between. i don’t know what to do. I am only 2 months in. supplementing w formula so baby gains weight. but pumping and storing and pumping and bottle feeding expressed milk too. Kind of offering whichever is easier based on babies fussiness and hunger.

Supply and demand! 
Breastfeeding is a supply-and-demand system. The more demand on the system through breastfeeding the baby, the more milk the body makes! 
I’ve always had oversupply and what I do to keep it up is that I nurse baby and then I pump after that tell the body baby is demanding more milk!

Always pump more times. It’s a supply and demand so if you keep waiting your body will produce much slower than it would if you pumped hourly for 15-30 mins. It’ll take a couple days to catch up but it’ll signal your body to make more.

Pump more often. Even if there’s no milk, the pump will stimulate production. 
Also skin to skin time makes mommy-hormones which increase milk supply.

If you pump less, you might initially get more but it will slow. The more you empty your breasts the more you will produce. With that being said, pumping every hour isn’t really sustainable and you will drive yourself crazy. If you’re breastfeeding, try to pump after most feeds to make sure you’re emptying.
