Should I spend my birthday with my boyfriend if he hasn’t planned anything?
My boyfriend purchased a Samsung tv from Amazon over the summer in June. While he was cleaning his dresser he told me he noticed a small crack and wants to return it. He originally had the Samsung Q60 for $597, and is going to purchase the newer model the Q70 for $797. After this he said he will not be able to take me out for my birthday which is tomorrow Dec 8th. He gave me a gift for my birthday but for his birthday in August, I was expected to buy a gift as well as food, after being laid off from work. Each day leading up to his birthday he would ask what I had planned. I just think it’s odd all of his technology keeps breaking lately. He had an iPhone X and traded it in because the battery kept dying, then purchased an iPhone 11 shortly after. The tv is being delivered tomorrow and he’s asking if I will help him carry the tv upstairs and drive to his house because he doesn’t drive. We would basically spend the afternoon just watching tv. I would also end up leaving early because he thinks my family is going plan something with me later in the day but I wanted to spend my birthday with him and do something fun. Honestly I don’t even feel like it’s worth visiting.
Update: I told him I thought about it and I’m going out with friends instead. He was pissed! He lied, saying that he never told me we weren’t going out for my birthday and does have the money to go out. Then tried to call me mean for “ditching” him to spend time with friends and said I don’t love him. It’s not my fault he chose to buy a tv so I’m going to spend my birthday the way I want. I don’t like the fact that he lied about not being able to go out and am not settling for last minute plans.
