Should CPS be called on pregnant women for smoking cigarettes?

We all know how harmful smoking cigarettes is to unborn babies. Why dont they make it like drinking or smoking weed where CPS need to get involved? 🤔
Do you think they should? 
Would you call CPS for this?

I think they should. Nicotine is a drug like many other drugs, and people can suffer withdrawal symptoms. There’s research showing how nicotine negatively effects babies exposed to it in utero. But because it’s so normalized, no CPS agency that I’m aware of has ever taken action on it because there’s no policy written up around it to allow them to do so.

There is nothing they can do. You can't even call about a woman doing drugs or drinking heavily while pregnant. Only the hospital can test babies for it once they are born and then call.

One of my old close friends was a HEAVY smoker for a few years before getting pregnant. Her doctor told her not to quit cold turkey and to slowly taper off. While she admits she didn’t ever fully quit, just slowed way down, how could anyone else tell that she was advised not to just quit right away? I feel like that’s definitely a mind your business type of place because they know their risk and either way nothing can be done.

Cigarettes are legal and cps would probably laugh if you called about that.  They have bigger things to worry about and can’t do anything about that.

CPS generally wouldn't get involved with any substance use until after the baby was born unless it was part of an ongoing custody/divorce case where the father brought it (with evidence) to the attention of the court.

I don’t think there is a reason to call on a mother who drinks, smokes weed, or smokes cigarettes unless she’s putting her kids in serious danger or being wreckless. I smoked both my pregnancies because I was unable to quit. You think I deserved to have child services called on me then? I also smoke weed. Do I deserve a call? Even tho I support my kids and they are healthy and happy?? Quitting cigarettes is hard as it is. Asking people if you should call child services on someone BECAUSE THEYRE PREGNANT AND CANT QUIT IS PATHETIC. If you call on someone because of that and none of their kids are getting abused or Mistreated you deserve nothing. If you wanna call maybe after he gave birth because she smoking beside her baby inside then go for it. Until then mind your own business.
