Help painful sex!!!

So met my boyfriend last year and lost my verginity to him and found out I was his first which I never knew, so anyway at first sex was painful which I get it was my first then after so many times it was still painful but found out I had 3 7x7cm ovarian cysts so put the pain down to that etc so Jan this year I had them removed and around then we took a break we had alot going on but we're back together now and sex is still uncomfortable and had another scan to see if cyst have grown back and got the results and all clear no cysts so now i don't know what's causing the discomfort when we have sex the discomfort feels like in the pelvis so not sure what to do I'm not experienced that much I've only been with him and he's not very experienced either but I'm getting more confident etc. What could help ease the discomfort any positions or do we need more foreplay any ideas and we always use lube
