Medicine for a cold??

Question

What can I take for a head cold? I’ve got a good amount of snot, slight headache, and fatigue.   I normally take a bunch of elderberry gummies and Sudafed but I’m not sure if those are okay while pregnant.  14 weeks pregnant

I had bad congestion last week. Bought some sudafed but realized it said it had phenylephrine and google said not to take this. Called OB for confirmation, and the nurse said not to take anything with Phenylephrine, but Tylenol sinus would be fine....Tylenol sinus has phenylephrine. So, I ended up asking a pharmacist and she said they no longer want pregnant women taking Sudafed or anything with Phenylephrine. She told me to take an antihistamine and plain mucinex or guaifenesin and it actually cleared me up pretty good.

Call you doctor or midwife and ask what you should take. I was given a pregnancy book with safe medications to take. Sudafed is okay to take. You will have to get it behind a pharmacy counter if you live in the us.
