Infant watching TV ?

Question

How long do you let your infant have screen time? Tv, phone.. my son is watching lullabies, the music videos. It’s been almost 40 mins I feel like I should shut it off. Does it have any negative effect ? He is 11 weeks.. almost 3 months old.

No screen time before 2 years old and after they should only have no more than 30 mins my pediatrician has told me. My son will watch a few movies a week for quiet time if he doesn’t nap. He’s 2.5 but we do not do iPads or other screen time.

0 screen time for babies. My son is 16 months and just started watching a bit here and there. Tvs always been off during the day before. My first was over two, but that was cause she had no interest at all.

I mean I don’t feel like screen time is really possible that young. I wouldn’t necessarily set baby up to watch it but if it calms baby for a bit and gives you some time then so be it. People can be really against screen time but parental sanity is important.

Get a fish tank. My daughter loved watching our fish when she was a baby (she’s 5 and still does... she has one in her room now).

It’s honestly not a big deal. 
My son is 13 months old and his play yard is close to the tv and I will usually turn it on in the morning while I am making his breakfast and picking his bag for daycare. But honestly he will watch it for a minute and just loose interest then go play with his toys and his books. So it really just ends up being background noise. But I would say if your baby becomes fascinated by tv and just stares at the screen and nothing else, probably a good idea to turn off the tv.

I’m not one of the mums who’s anti-screen time, but I don’t see why you need to entertain an infant with a tv/iPad/phone etc. lay them on the floor with something above them to look at. Simple

They say not until 2. They really do t even get into it until that age. And at 3 months they’re more into the contrast and lights than anything. I try not to really encourage it but my 3y/o watches a show or two a day and sometimes I’ll catch him watching it while he’s doing tummy time or in his swing 🤷🏼‍♀️
