Failed Epidurals!
Ladies who have not delivered and plan on getting an epidural during labor this is for you. I had my daughter on the 12th. This is my 3rd child so I went in with the mentality that I didn’t have anything to worry about and would get an epidural for pain as I did with my other 2 kids. Well my first epidural failed after about an hour of working perfectly fine. They said the epidural catheter had a vascular migration. I was at 7cm at that point and contractions were every minute. After messing with it got an hour or so they opted with redoing it. I got it redone and again everything was fine until 30 minutes before pushing. I told my nurse I had a lot of pain again. I was shaking the pain was so intense. Sure enough I was at 10 and my epidural failed again. I never knew this was a thing. I was warned of many things before accepting the epidural, but it failing was not one of those things. I was not mentally prepared for the trauma of an un-medicated delivery. So I warn you to be prepared with other techniques to deal with pain.
