C section? What to expect?

My husband has been pushing me to have a c section for our 2nd baby because I had a 3rd degree tear with my 1st and it was extremely painful. I told him I wont have it unless it's neccessary because I am terrified of surgery. However, I really want to be more inform about it. Anyone here had a c section before? Can you tell me about your experience during and after a c section? How long did it take you to recover? Pain meds? Any discomforts?  I have an 18 months old toddler as well.

I had an emergency c section with my youngest one who is now 20 months old and boy the recovery was awful especially I had another toddler as well. I had 2 vaginal delivery prior to that and currently pregnant again and this time I am trying my best to try for a vbac and avoid c section as much as possible.

I had an emergency csection with my first. It honestly was not that bad. My recovery was fantastic. I actually had more pain down there because I had tried a vaginal birth first and she got stuck. I was on pain meds the whole five days in the hospital, but by the time I got home I was just taking Tylenol. I will be having a scheduled csection this time around (actually in exactly a week) and am expecting the recovery to be even better we shall see

I ended up with a csection with my son bc he was almost 10 lbs. my daughter was 19 months at the time. I didn’t think it was horrible and would much rather have pain in my belly then my vagina. After the first week the doctor cleared me to lift my daughter again and told me listen to my body so if the pain is bad of t do it. 
I think it helped that I was moving as soon as possible and it helped the healing. The whole surgery was scary and I’m sure it will be this time too. I’m having another one with my third and I’m not too worried. It’s nice to know you will go in and an hour later you will have a baby.

Having a c section this time due to a previous rectal surgery. Doctor is concerned my scar my rip back open with pushing. My recovery was horrendous from those 2 surgeries. So a c section recovery should easier then my months and months of recovery from those surgeries. List the pros and cons, my decision was left up to me ultimately. My husband was a huge support in the decision making. As I did not want a csection at all. I cried every time I thought about it, have a 2 year old almost 3 yo at home

I have an 18month old too, although my recovery wasn’t bad and I haven’t had a c-section, I do know that chasing after her will be a whole lot worse after major surgery if I end up having a c-section 😬
I’d talk to your doc/midwife and have your hubby there to hear the pros and cons. But I would stick to your guns about vaginal unless c-section is medically necessary. 
He probably can’t comprehend that the surgery is a pretty big deal and just doesn’t want you in the same pain as last time so may think this is a better alternative.
