Are you dilating?

Question

I have no idea if I'm dilating. How do you know? Did your doctor check you? If so, when? I'm 35 weeks and some days but have never been checked for dilation

I just had my midwife appointment,  and I'm 37 weeks. They dont do cervical checks cause they are actually quite pointless and dont tell you much. Its only once actual contractions fitting the timetable model kick in does dilation matter. This early, cervical checks are pointless and evasive to a women for no need

Cervical checks are not a good indicator of when labor will start. You can be dilated to a 2-3 for weeks before labor comes.
If you're curious though, you can always ask your doctor to check you or you can check yourself.

W my 1st I was at a dr appt and was only a fingertip dilated, but went into labor the next day lmao. Most people can b dilated for a few wks but mine was so random and fast..

I will be having my midwife check starting at 37 weeks. Normally I never do prior to labor and rarely in labor. But this is my 6th and my husband three times a week is a couple hours away for our kids' activities. Knowing my body and how many cm my body likes to kick into labor we will be more cautious in canceling kid activities.

I got checked at about 33-34 weeks because I was in L&D, I was 1 cm. At 36 weeks I was a “good 2” and 80% effaced and baby in -1 station. I’ll be checked Thursday and curious to what it will be as I can hardly close my legs now. I just like getting checked to know where we are and I know it doesn’t mean we are “close” especially with this little one who does whatever he wants lol.

I’m having a repeat c-section though and she said there’s no point in checking unless I just want her to.

My doctor won’t do checks until 36 weeks. I had my 37 week check today and I am 3 cm, 80%, 0 station. I’ve been having a lot of period type cramping lately so I guess it makes sense that I have dilated some. But I could remain this way for weeks.  In my first pregnancy when I had these exact stats I delivered a week later but every pregnancy is different!

I’m 36 weeks and got checked today. Only 1cm dilated. He said he wouldnt check me unless I wanted him to from here on out. And I’m not going to because it hurt 😂
