2 year old not saying much

Hi there, I have 2 boys one who is 5 years old and my youngest who turned 2 in November. I'm starting to get very concerned because my 2 year old isn't saying much. He understands everything you say and he can point to objects if you name them but only says a few words. I'm really worried. I scheduled a appointment with a new pediatrician because his old pediatrician was just terrible. Unfortunately we wont be seen by the new pediatrician until January 2, 2020. So I would love some feedback. Some moms who have been through the same. Did it get better? Should I give him some more time?
