Why won't my Dr say I'm pregnant. .

Question

I've taken 2 blood tests,  but all my dr says is that the pregnancy hormone is present,  but not a positive confirmation...she has ordered another test to be done a week from today....is something wrong?

My OB was the same way. I took 3 blood tests to make sure my levels were doubling like they should, before he would give me a definite positive. Even then I was going in every 2 weeks the first 2 and half months due to recent miscarriage and pregnancy issues with my youngest.

Your hcg should at least double every 48 hours or so.  If the level is not doubling, your doctor might have concern.  Anything over 5 is technically positive.  My first was 140 at 3w6d then the next one 2 days later was 456.  When in doubt, talk to your doctor or their nurses.  Mine are always super helpful and give me any information I ask for. Interesting, maybe she wants to make sure your hormone levels continue to go up? You should definitely ask her if you haven't already - you have the right to know.

She probably waits to wait to see if your hcg doubles at the rate it's supposed to, and some docs make you wait a little longer so they can confirm with an ultrasound. She has probably been through a lot of miscarriages and is just being cautious. My first pregnancy was a blighted ovum where I developed a sac but there was no baby. My hcg levels still increased at a high rate and the sac grew but they couldn't find a heartbeat or fetal pole. Not saying that is any way the case with you but she has probably dealt with a lot of those situations and has a standard way of confirming pregnancies. I would just ask her how your hcg levels look and if there is any cause for concern.
