Why do I get periods with an implant?

Hi, I got my implant last December and for a fair few months I had no period at all. Then I started to have regular sex with my now boyfriend and my periods started to happen again. I'll come on every month and they'll last for a week and sometimes longer. Is this normal with the implant or not?

It's completely normal. The implant is different for everyone. It could stop periods completely and you could not have any at all, you could have regular ones or you could have one every few months. I had my implant in for 2 years and I think I had about 3 periods in total.

When I had the implant in I would have a longer period and then it was 2 weeks and a week break and another 2 weeks and then it changed to 3 days break between periods. I had it removed due to other symptoms and after baby no.2 I'm considering the coil (non hormonal).
