My birth story (a little long)

Shyanna • Mommy of Erik 09/14/17 and Aiden 07/17/2020

This was a little over two years ago. I thought it would be fun to share since i will never forget the details of my birthing experience. It was Sunday Sept 10th 2017. I was exactly 38 weeks pregnant. Me and my SO had some shopping to do and we decided to stop at taco bell for lunch. I normally wouldn’t eat fast food but we had a lot to do that day. So i had a few hard tacos and we headed to Walmart for our shopping. Everything going good so far then we stopped at the carwash to wash off my car. Then all of a sudden i started getting these(Tmi) awe full smelling burps. The smelt just like sulfur. I remember having them once before and ended up getting sick so i kinda knew the outcome of this and blamed it on the Taco bell. Fast forward to that night i was up sick all night but i haven’t thrown up yet just felt like i was going to any minute. My SO left for work my cat started scratching at our AC in the window i was trying to relax and got up to grab her as soon as i bent over i felt it hit me and darted to the bathroom and finally i got sick and felt so much better. I finally got some rest and woke up at 11:00am with period like cramps one 9/11/17. I was like oh boy i think somethings happening nothing to terrible because it was my first if it was the start of labor it would be a while so i went back to sleep. Woke up around 1am( i was up all night feeling ill don’t usually sleep that late) and thats when the contractions started i texted my bf but told his to finish his shift they were very irregular. I called my grandma just in case it went quicker than i was expecting and she would be prepared. My SO gets home at 4pm they got a bit stronger but still about 15 minutes apart not time yet. I showered relaxed and had a small snack and went to try to get sleep. Woke up to them being really strong so we headed in. I was only at a 2. Got at the hospital at 4am sept 12 and got sent home at 10am because i never progressed. The contractions were strong but never progressed. I spent all day at home tues sept 12 in labor. I went all night sept 12 at home in labor with no sleep. I was becoming so week but they were never closer than 15 minutes. I went to my apt the next morning at 11am still having contractions on sept 13 and i was at a 6 i was sent right over to the hospital. My bf was bringing down our bags. We thought my son would of been there in a few short hours. Boy we were wrong. I dilated to a 8 pretty quick but then it took 4 hours to get to 9. Then i got to 9.5 and i stalled. This was around 6pm. Around 10pm my nurse switched out for the day expecting to see the baby in the morning little did she know she would be the one helping to deliver the next day. I got the epidural at 10:00pm because i was so tired and not progressing anymore. Sleep then the doctors came in because they couldnt fine the heartbeat. But we found it and i had to stay on my right side. Finally at 6am on sept 14th the doctor broke my water and at 8:30ish i was check and my sons head was right there. I couldn’t feel anything so we called in my mom and grandma and woke up my boyfriend. Them i practiced pushed a few times. The doctor showed up and i must of pushed a little to hard for a practice and my son shot out and my doctor has just put his last glove on and turned around and caught him as he little shot out of me. I barley pushed a minute. Thank god that part was easy. I was told later that day that if i didn’t have him by noon i would of gotten a c section because i was in the hospital for almost 24 hours when i had him. So a total of almost 3 days straight of labor. 2 at home and almost one in the hospital.
