Is it okay to just say you're pregnant?

In a time when everyone seems to be announcing with big gestures or cryptic clues or some other thing, is it okay to just say you're pregnant? I was planning to just tell my inlaws at Christmas being we didn't have the time to do any fancy announcement, but now I feel like maybe I should put off announcing and do it bigger? I didn't want to announce in the first place but due to some hard times recently for my inlaws I thought the good news would cheer everyone up. We already have a son and we just told them I was pregnant before, I'm not all that into announcements. I just feel like I should have put more effort into it with cards or shirts or something because everyone else seems to do that now.
