Is cursing bad?

Do you think it’s bad to curse. Do you have a religious belief against it or it’s not How you were raised? ￼ have you ever had to overcome this habit? ￼

As a Christian, my life purpose is to glorify God and use every part of my life to glorify God, including my mouth, so I say no to cursing. It also is to honor my mother and father because they say no to cursing, even if I’m out of the house

I used to curse before I became a Jehovah’s Witness I started to make it because I thought it was cool. And once I started studying the Bible I realize it was a bad habit that I could not overcome that easy I didn’t like that feeling I felt like I wasn’t in control of myself. 
￼￼￼￼￼ Cursing isn’t just about words. Your speech reveals what is going on inside you. Using foul language, then, could indicate that you are insensitive to the feelings of others. Is that the kind of person you really are?
The Bible says: “Whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart.”—Matthew 15:18.
Cursing can cause others to think negatively of you. The book Cuss Control says: “The way we speak can determine who our friends will be, the amount of respect we will get from our families and coworkers, the quality of our relationships, how influential we will be, whether we get the job or the promotion, and how strangers respond to us.” It also says: “Ask yourself if your relationships could, perchance, be even better if you didn’t swear.”
The Bible says: “Put away . . . abusive speech.”​—Ephesians 4:31.  “Let a rotten word not come out of your mouth.”​—Ephesians 4:​29.

Once I stopped cursing, I noticed a huge miraculous change in my life circumstances.
After all the definition of “curse” is - 1.
a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.
2. an offensive word or phrase used to express anger or annoyance.
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
James 3:10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
We can literally speak life or death into our own life. What did God do to create the earth and all LIFE in it? He SPOKE! Speak to your life circumstances and declare life and joy in Jesus name!!!

Using the Lords name in vain “oh my God” is bad. Other words are dirty and not polite but not bad like using Gods name is

I used to cuss all the time. But I met my husband and he never cusses not even when he’s angry. So I stopped completely and realized that I want to show people who I am and not use unnecessary words that are trashy.  It’s also a really bad habit if you cuss in front of your kids so thankfully when we do have our kids, they won’t repeat anything bad from our mouths and they will learn you don’t say those words. It really helps if you and spouse are on the same page about using certain words to express your emotions. There’s tons of substitutes too like gosh darn, or shoot, or freak, or we say fork😂😂 like it sounds childish but it’s so much healthier to not use the f bomb every 3 seconds lol

When I was young I was made fun of for not cursing with my friends. I was in 4th grade and asked them not to curse around me.
I told all of them what I was taught, "there are so many words in the English language, there is no reason to use curse words!"
As I got older I thought it was okay to use them sometimes, I also learned that using them can reduce pain. I think the reducing pain part has more to do with giving your brain a distraction and something to laugh about. When you laugh or smile it increases serotonin and that reduces pain.
Now, as an adult I curse occasionally but try not to. I wish i had never started cursing in the first place. It's hard to stop! I have learned more about several religions and I don't think cursing is good for anything! ♡

Fun fact: there is a special part of your brain dedicated to curse words. Saying them can also help to reduce pain 😁

I don’t have a spiritual belief that it is wrong exactly. If any words including curse words are used to hurt or shame another it’s a hard no for me. Using them in other ways doesn’t bother me. I do feel though there are situations where these words aren’t appropriate and I am very mindful of that.
