How many weeks were you when your OB started checking your cervix? My OB told me today they won’t start checking until I’m 37 weeks 🥴

I requested to not be checked until I was in labor. There is no reason at all for your cervix to be checked before 37 weeks

Mine never did...I was induced a week after my due date and that was the first time they checked for dilation....fair warning, it really hurts!

Never because unless you’re in labor what you’re dilated to means absolutely nothing

I didn’t get checks with either of my pregnancies till I was 40 weeks. They aren’t really necessary unless for medical reasons. Dilation don’t mean anything till actual labor. Some women walk around dilated for weeks and others don’t dilate till labor. Getting it done can cause spotting and cramping - which can also cause unnecessary stress on mamas. Could also potentially introduce bacteria and cause an infection. You can deny them if you want.

They checked mine at 34 weeks with my second but only because I had to do a stress test and it was picking up mild contractions. I was 2 cm. I'm not sure when they're going to start with this one but I'm going to ask at my next appointment

I believe it was 37 weeks when they brought it up. I didn’t do it because I feel like it’s unnecessary to do it just because, but when you get to those every week appointments, that’s generally when they start.

I denied. There’s no reason to be checked. It just puts you and baby at risk of infection and complications

I wasn't checked until 39 weeks and she only checked me because I had been having consistent painful contractions and found out I was dilated to a 3.
This time they're checking at 38 weeks because I will be induced and this will determine when and what induction procedure they will use a few days later.

I wasn’t checked until I went in for induction at 36 weeks. When I was checked they had told me I was already 3cm dilated. Just a heads up, it’s incredibly painful! Felt like the shoved their entire hand up there 😬
