Would you give your baby your last name if you weren’t with or married to the father?

I was raised if the parents are unwed at birth, the child gets the mother's last name. So my oldest 2 have my maiden name. My younger 2 have my married last name. All have the same father.

It would depend on the relationship and how involved the father is. My son has my ex’s last name. We are no longer together but I have zero regrets.

Depends. I gave my son my now husbands name. At the time we had just got back together after a breakup. I knew we would make it work and we did. It all depends how the relationship is and if that dad is going to be in the babies life or not. I personally think the boy should always have the dads last name unless he’s a deadbeat or a one night stand.

I think it's super individual. My husband has his mother's last name because his parents had a rocky relationship. But my best friend has her father's last name even though her parents hated each other. Either way, the mom decided so I think as the mother you can choose whatever feels right to you.
