Is the buy one get one charity scheme real? Toms Shoes is just an example. What do you think and why?

It's real but it doesn't really help the places that they give the shoes to it actually hurts local businesses. And I heard it cost like 7 bucks to make the shoes. I really wouldn't call it charity if you're selling the shoes at such a high price.

At $50 per pair of shoes that fall apart in a week I sure hope they are doing something good with the massive profit margins

I was watching this show Adam ruins everything and on there he says they do give out shoes, but it's not necessarily needed. The commercials that show kids with no shoes are not in the majority and it also takes business away from the shoe shops. And also the amount that it takes to make the shoe and the money you spend to buy them makes a big profit for the owner. I don't know how true as its a tv show but it's a great watch.

Sure. I pay $60 on Toms shoes he spent 5 bucks making, then he uses my $60 to make another $5 pair of shoes for a village kid. Tom gets to keep the $55 left. Also, Tom helps drive the local businesses over there into the ground. *real* charitable...

It is real. They also have s new program that they now upgrade the shoes as the children grow.

Yeah its legit. They don't give out any of the cool designed ones but still a good company. They do something similar if you buy their glasses, I don't remember exactly
