Is tour cervix supposed to be thinned at 16w?

I have a tmi question.

I was taking a shower and felt something like hair down there so I was trying to get it off. Well I couldn't and looked and it was clear thick strong mucus. About the length of my finger. And I freaked out and thought it was my mucus plug and felt my cervix and it's thin and I can fit one finger in it. Does this happen at 16w? I never checked it with the last.. Do you think I should text my Dr? I honestly thing she's just going to tell me to go to the er. I don't want to waste a trip bc I feel like that’s her answer for anything. 🤦‍♀️
