Ovary pains

I got my period at a young age and have always struggled with severe cramps until I was put on birth control at 15. Even while on birth control I'd still get cramps but not as bad. Now no matter if I'm on my period or not my left ovary cramps all the time it's either dull or sharp. My doctor thinks it's normal but I don't believe her. I'm concerned that her lack of concern will leave me infertile or something does any one have experience with anything like this?
