Does anyone buy their own gown for when they deliver? What one did you get?

Heck no! Hospital gown is perfect for all the blood and other juices present! I did bring my own afterwards clothes though

i got a couple of these frida mom gowns for when i was on the postpartum unit and i’m glad i did! i’m really sensitive to fabrics so the regular gowns were really uncomfortable to me. the frida mom gown is sooooo soft and has nice snaps for breastfeeding in the front. i would highly recommend it!

I wouldn't. itll get so gross and you'll just end up tossing it. I was just going to wear normal clothes but my water broke and kept leaking so I went through multiple hospital gowns. I actually ended up pushing and giving birth completely naked. I bought one for after delivery tho with the matching baby blanket from gownies which I loved.

My hospital doesn't allow it until after birth. In case there's an emergency they need to know where every tie and snap etc is on the gown so they can remove it quickly if necessary. And besides it gets a hella nasty and then you have to pack it up in the same bag as your hair brush and take it home, yuck

I did. I knew there was the potential for it to get gross so I bought a black one. It's not like you're going to get a new one at the hospital, they just wash it like you would wash yours. I am short and hospital gowns always fit weird. This allowed me to be comfy and actually feel better. I don't think you should have to wear a "sick" patient robe when you're not really sick. It might also depend on your hospital so check with them first. Mine only allowed this type since it has access to your belly, snaps on the back, and snaps on both shoulders.

I did. From latched mama online. It’s called the labor dress 2.0. Check it out. It has no metal in it. Just plastic snaps. So if you get a c section you can wear it. Also it has petal openings in the front so they can still check you for dilation and you can wear a baby monitor. It’s has snaps all the way down the back for epidural access. Comes with a matching headband. And it’s super soft. Plus it has clip downs on the front side for breastfeeding and skin to skin :) I hate hospital gowns. I’ve always worn them when I gave birth to my other kids and they were uncomfortable, itchy, and I didn’t feel covered when anyone entered a room. Like my ass was open and hanging out. Plus I couldn’t walk around in it without people seeing my butt. I’m due with my third in February and I can’t Wait to use my labor dress. Idk why everyone is saying they will just get bloody and gross. I always pulled mine (hospital gown) up over my belly when I’m pushing and delivering so nothing ever got on it. No blood or amniotic fluid or anything. I plan to do the same with my labor dress. Good luck. Some people have different preferences but I suggest you look into them at least and decide on what you’ll be most comfortable in.

Yeah, no haha I'll never understand why some women insist on this. You literally have a constant flow of blood and other liquids coming out and getting all over it. Not to mention some women poop during labor as well. So you're spending all this money on a gown you're probably just going to throw in the trash. Zero point lol

I will say, when I had my first son the gown they gave me was torn and I should have just spoken up as it was a bit uncomfortable. However, I’ve been to the ER twice these past two weeks and the gowns have been sooo soft & just the perfect size/length. I don’t recommend buying your own FOR birth, but I did buy a new robe for afterwards so I can just cover up easily when my grandparents/in-laws come in!
