induction ??

Question

i’m a ftm and i’m currently 36 weeks exactly. i had an appointment today and my doctor scheduled me for an induction on 1-20-2020 (if he doesn’t come naturally before then) my due date is 1-24-2020 . 
i’m just wondering if an induction makes the labor harder or more likely to turn into a c-section?? 
i’m just kinda worried about it all. any and all advice/info would be nice lol

I had a long dreadful labor and delivery with my first child due to unnecessary induction (my Drs suggestion). This time I will not be induced unless necessary.

Honestly, induction for your first child is not the most fun! I was on Pitocin for 2 days before starting to dialite because my body just wasn't ready to birth a baby yet! Unless there is a medical reason (mine was due to very high blood pressure after weeks of bed rest) then I would wait and hopefully go into labor on your own.

Did your dr tell you why they wanted to schedule you already? Induction does double your chances of an c section

I’ve had both a natural labor and an induction. with my natural i felt like it went really fast (total of 8 hours, start to finish). The contractions weren’t super painful until maybe the last hour, but I still was able to breath thru them. With my induction, it had never crossed my mind that it could go “bad” and I would have to have an emergency cs if I didn’t make progress quick enough... but the pain was UNBEARABLE from start to finish, even with back pain I CRIED for the epidural. thank god I was already at a 8 and they said it was too late but I really felt like I was dying from the beginning. My induction was only 6 hours long but if felt like a lifetime. I would say that if you can prevent it do so. I just didn’t have the best experience.

I was induced with my first (9 days past due)... once the pitocin started dripping... it didn’t take long for me to ask for an epidural lol. My second I was contracting and had no idea .... I was admitted and they did start some pitocin just to make sure I continued to progress because I live over an hour from hospital. The second go around I feel like I could have labored naturally for much longer without any drugs... I am not an advocate for induction unless it’s necessary but I know a lot of doctors and patients opt for it. My personal experience would be to labor naturally... let your body do what it was designed for .... I also know quite few women who got induced and ended up with c sections... is it because they were induced? 🤷🏽‍♀️ The female body was designed to birth a child.. I don’t know why we try to control everything that Mother Nature already made to do what it should... I’ll end this overly worded response with, be your own advocate, listen to your body and your gut. You do what you feel is the best for you and your baby. Remember that doctors are “practicing” medicine.... they do not know everything... take their knowledge and your own about you and use it to make the best decisions for yourself.
