Period even after my sugar pills are done ?

My doctor put me on a new birth control medicine and idk what is going on with my body. I have just finished all my sugar pills this past Thursday however I am still bleeding a heavy flow and it’s Sunday. Honestly freaking out. I have never messed up so many pairs of underwear because it was light Saturday and Friday and flood heavy on Sunday. I would just like to know what is wrong with my body. These mood swings are killing me as well. One moment I’m crying and then the next I’m laughing. Should I be worried?
