First dog together

My boyfriend and I are looking for a dog to own together.

I told him I’d love a husky, pitbull, or Alaskan malamute, but I also wanted a rescue. I said that I wasn’t set on them and if we went looking and found about big breed dog we loved I’d love that, and he wants a puppy.

He says huskys are too expensive to buy, which is why I said rescue and maybe get a mix.

“It’s easier to train purebreds”

What?? 😂😂

Anyway what are ideal dogs? I grew up with a black lab golden retriever mix who was the most well behaved boy. His family has an outdoor dog so our “pet parent” ideas are very different
