Period to regulate?

I having recently come off my contraceptive pill and was wondering how long it takes to regulate your period again, as I am 21 days late an not pregnant is this normal?

That happened to me after I got off birth control and my doc told me to call them if I didn't get it after 3 months. Ended up with a cyst from not getting it after 2 months and found out I wasn't ovulating so never would have gotten it.
