Is IKEA flooring safe?

My husband and I are planning to replace the carpet in our living room with IKEA laminate flooring. Our carpet is just gross and it's one of the things we want to do before the baby comes. I am 17 weeks pregnant. However we mentioned this to a neighbor, who is admittedly incredibly paranoid about such things, and he expressed all kinds of concerns that it might give us cancer. At first I was livid frankly that he would bring this stress up, we did not ask for his opinion. But then I did some research and it turns out there is formaldehyde used in laminate flooring. Now I am just confused and don't know what to do. Obviously I don't want to do anything that might harm my baby, but we cannot afford real wood, and I think people use IKEA products all the time, even baby furniture, which maybe doesn't contain formaldehyde.
Has anyone installed IKEA wood flooring during your pregnancy? Have you had any issues? I would love peoples thoughts on the matter.
