Is Hazel too popular?

Question

I have always liked old fashioned names and Hazel is one of about five my husband and I can agree on. It looks like it is skyrocketing in popularity and as much as I love it, I also don't want to use a name that seems "trendy" either. I haven't personally encountered any but curious what others experiences are. Thanks!

I don't know to be honest, because I live in Austria. But, personal opinion, I really don't think it's important. I find that people are way too obsessed with finding "unique" names nowadays rather than finding names they actually love and that can be pronounced lol! We chose absolutely classic and quite popular names for our boys and I love them. My boys are unique by definition, no matter what the name. I love Hazel btw., so pretty!

It’s #42 in the US, so if you were specifically wanting something rare, I wouldnt use Hazel. But if you’re just wanting to avoid overly common then I think it’s fine. Right now, one out of 376 baby girls in the US are given this name. So it’s not like it’d be two in every class.
