Will you breastfeed?

Question

Just wondering how many ladies are for sure breastfeeding or for sure not breastfeeding.
This is my first pregnancy and everything I have read about breastfeeding seems so scary! I know it can save money and it really healthy for the baby. But the pumping and pain doesn't sound like fun. I have an adopted son that was always on formula and he was fine so I am not opposed to it.
Also I have almost flat nipples so not sure if the baby will even be able to latch.
Just wanting advice and thoughts! Thanks

I'm still breastfeeding my first and we never used a bottle. Plan on doing the same this time around. My nipples are so flat but it didn't matter. Baby girl figured it out!

My daughter was allergic to milk everything and unfortunately I wasn't able to continue. But I will be trying again this time! Yeah its uncomfortable and kinda weird feeling at first but you create and incredible bond and it's all worth it!

I breastfed with my two boys and was planning on giving it a go this time as well. I am having twins though so I am a little less confident in my abilities. Has anyone successfully breastfed twins?

There's something you can get to help flat nipples... You can wear nipple shells (Medela makes them) they are just plastic you put in your bra that draw your nipples out to help baby latch. (You don't wear them while you breast feed... They just help in between feedings)
I successfully exclusively breast fed both my babies for 15 months each. It went just fine!

I'm still nursing my daughter who will turn two tomorrow and 13 weeks pregnant. Remember that it's the biological norm and what your body was made to do but it's still a learning process for you and baby. The best thing you can do is find a local la leche league or breastfeeding support group. Nothing beats evidence based mom to mom support.

We did with my first she was a champ the first two days and then refused to eat. She ended up having stomach surgery at three weeks, 3 months of hospital stays in two states. A feeding tube multiple endoscopies, biopsies, endless testing. Finally they discovered she has eosinophilic gastroenteritis and was allergic to human milk even :( I cried and felt so guilty when they told me she couldn't have any breastmilk any more. She was put on Elecare which is soy and milk free strictly amino acid based. She's almost a year and still unable to handle any soy or dairy. So sometimes you don't have a choice. I'm hoping with our next baby I can it's truly such a special thing and so much easier than scrubbing bottles all day and trying to mix a bottle while you have screaming baby. Don't get me wrong BF is hard and the first six weeks are the hardest. I would have cracks and be bleeding but that all goes away in time. I'd recommend at least trying. I always thought it would be too weird but it's the most natural thing in the world.

Breastfeeding my first daughter was a little uncomfortable to begin with, but after a week or two, it was better. Pumping was never painful. I had flat nipples and used a nipple shield. That helped bring my nipple out. Only problem is the shield should only be used for a week or so. My first child was so used to it, she wouldn't feed without it. Second child, I used the shield again, bc of my let down being too fast, I didn't have any soreness and I only pumped once a week. The next child I will breastfeed as well. Whatever you choose is going to be whatever you're comfortable with. Don't be scared of breastfeeding, though. Some women have easy times, some struggle. Just make sure if you choose to breastfeed, you have a good support system ( lactation consultant and any friends or family that have breastfed) good luck. :)
