23andMe detecting MTHFR gene mutation and miscarriages?

Question

Guys - my mind is blown right now. Has anyone been diagnosed with the MTHFR gene mutation? I did a 23andMe genetic testing before I ever got pregnant because I have lupus, without ever really analyzing it.
This week for some reason MTHFR gene kept popping up on Facebook, so I decided to go back to my 23andMe results and it turns out I am positive for MTHFR c677T heterozygous mutation. This 100% explains my two recurrent miscarriages and I feel like my two angel babies were looking out for me when pushing me to go back to my results. 
I wish I did the test sooner because this is so easy to fix (like staying away from folic acid). Spreading the word to those who might have it also 💕

I’m homozygous for mthfr as well. I take 2mg (3 will my prenatal) of folate - NOT folic acid, as it will not be readily absorbed - as well as a baby aspirin daily. I also take omega 3’s and Ubiquinol CoQ10 after much research and doctor recommendations. I did this for a few months before trying to conceive again (per my doc). This is my first month trying. I take the NOW brand folate. Good luck!!

Hi I am homozygous(!) MTHFR and I wanted to share my experience. 1st pregnancy currently 8 weeks. I'm 32, never had a miscarriage (knock on wood) and It took just 4 months to conceive despite having low progesterone and this mutation. I found out through 23andme and told my doctor. My homocysteine and folic acid levels are totally normal, but they put me on a prescription prenatal called vitafol that has methylated folate in it, and one baby aspirin per day. Just wanted to share that having this mutation, even two copies of it, does not necessarily result in total reproductive doom. When I found out I had it a few weeks ago I freaked out, and wanted to share this for others. Good luck everyone.

I know this was ages ago but MTHFR is serious. You need to avoid folic acid in EVERYTHING, even in breads and cereals and everything. Our bodies can’t convert folic acid, which is synthetic anyway, and it can build up and cause toxicity. Get on a low dose aspirin (baby aspirin) daily, take methylated folate and B12, as well as DHA. Thorne, seeking health, and smartypants do good prenatals with activated vitamins. Good luck! 💜

I found out the same thing after my 3rd miscarriage. They now attribute the miscarriages to it, despite having had 2 kids with uncomplicated pregnancies and multiple surgeries where it had zero impact, it's the only reason they can find. I have been taking a daily baby aspirin, or low dose aspirin, as treatment for it since finding out, but have not gotten pregnant since.

You don’t stay away from folic acid with mthfr, I have it also, you need a special type your body can absorb, regular folic acid isn’t able to be absorbed. Talk to your OBGYN and get a prescription for the version you can process. I had 2 miscarriages now associated to that and a clotting condition. Still ttc.
