Shut down Planned Parenthood?

A hot topic recently is the Republicans attempting to shut down Planned Parenthood because they perform abortions. The catch is, only 5% of Planned Parenthoods perform abortions. Also, they provide many services such as cancer screenings, birth control, etc. On top of that, Planbed Parenthood can't use any government money to perform abortions. What do you think?

Planned parenthood was a godsend for me when I had no insurance in my early 20s. I got my birth control, paps, and std screenings. It pisses me off that republicans can't mind their own business and leave these clinics to help people who genuinely need it.

I believe that shutting down planned parenthood will cut down access to free and low cost contraception and ultimately cause the need for more terminations.  It's a stupid politically driven agenda from the Republican Party. It's not based on logic.

I don't think only 5% of PPs perform abortions. I think abortions account for only 5% of what PP does.

I consider myself a pro-life republican, but I think ending funding for Planned Parenthood is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Seriously people. The number of people who think all Planned Parenthood does is abortions concerns me. I personally would never have an abortion, but I can not speak on behalf of every woman and I'm not going to judge a woman if she chooses to have one. And neither should you. PP doesn't sell baby parts, they don't advertise their live abortions and they actually help with contraception, education and are a huge resource for women. Shutting it down would be equivalent to stealing away women's rights. It's a medical resource for women that just so happens to provide abortions. But guess what? That's a resource too. Do your research and DO NOT shut it down.
