Trying to lose weight while TTC?

My partner and I decided we want to start ttc this year. The problem is, I’m overweight. I’m 5’4, 180 lbs. I know pregnancy will bring more weight gain so I’d like to get to a more comfortable weight.

In December, I signed up for a weight loss challenge where you lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks by eating frequent, healthy meals (not cutting calories) and working out 5 times a week. I’m hoping to get down to 150. Is it ok to do this while ttc or should I wait until I’ve lost the weight to start trying?

On a post I read, a lady suggested going for it since the couple probably wouldn’t conceive right away anyway.

Thoughts?

Personally, I would try to establish some healthy eating and exercise routines before TTC. From what I’ve read, you’re likely to have an easier time conceiving and a healthier pregnancy if you’re healthy to begin with. However, weight is only one factor- there are many indicators of your health. A physician should be able to look at more indicators (age, smoking, blood pressure) and give you real answers about the trade offs of waiting vs. TTC. Whatever you decide good luck with your fitness journey and TTC. 💕

You might still concieve right away. But i'd wait a few months. Let your body get used to the excersises, because you can continue them after getting pregnant then. But if you get pregnant right away and still want to continue, it might be not advised, because your body is not used to it and there are too many new things for your body...

Definitely healthy to do while ttc and continuing once prego as well. Exercise and healthy eating is always good but there may be some limitations once you do become pregnant.
