Checking for Dilation?

I just had my 30 week appointment i go back in 2 weeks,but it was pretty much a normal checkup, but im wondering when they start checking your cervix or checking for dialation..?(idk what they do) This is my first pregnancy so i just wanna be prepared when that'll start happening 😂🙄

My dr told me today at my appt that at my next appt two weeks from now they are going to check. I’ll be 35 weeks.

Tbh checking dilation during pregnancy is pointless. My doctor only gave me one before I requested not to have them done and I’m planning to opt out next pregnancy.

Mine does not ever check not even during labor unless I push for a prolonged period with no outward sign of progress. They are wholly unnecessary, and give you zero usable information unless you are managing or trying to manage your pregnancy and labor medically.

My midwife and obgyn doesn't even bother to check before the overdue control. As it doesn't really tell you anything. You can go slightly dilated for several weeks and you can go from 0-10 within hours.

usually they check at 36-37 weeks, but dilation isn’t really a true sign of impending labor so the checks arent super necessary.
