Freaking out.. advice?

My Dr ordered carrier screening testing for my husband and I when I was 8 weeks pregnant. It was through Invitae and was just a blood test for each of us that shows what we are carriers of.

I called my insurance (Aetna) on Dec 27 to confirm that it would be covered, as if not, Invitae has an option to pay $250 to not go through insurance.

The customer service person I spoke to told me genetic testing is covered at 100% without a copay or deductible. I confirmed this multiple times, as I told her if it weren’t covered I would obviously just pay the out of pocket directly to Invitae. I gave her the name and address of my Dr who ordered it and was told it is in network.

I just logged onto my insurance and it says it was DENIED for both my husband and I, and says the charge is $2500 EACH. We do not have $5000 to spend on this. I obviously need to call my insurance on Monday but am absolutely freaking out in the meantime. Has anyone had a similar experience? I recently moved to the US from Canada where healthcare is completely different so I don’t understand the US healthcare system very well, which is why I called my insurance to confirm it would be covered in the first place.

Help please 😭😩
