Is having two cats better than one?

I have a 6 year old Siamese I adopted a few years ago, she is very silly and friendly. I’ve never had any other animals around her as I’ve never owned two pets at the same time. I’m a SAHM while hubby works, we have a toddler. Our kitty sleeps 99% of the day, and I feel she’d be more active if we adopted another cat, probably a kitten - that way they could play together and stay occupied with one another. Do you guys think having two cats is better than one...? Or would a puppy be good?

My husband's family got 2 cats and now they keep one of them locked up because ever since they brought the other cat home, the older one has been peeing on everything in the house and won't stop. He does it to mark his territory from the other cat. But he still does it to this day and it's been years and so they have to lock him up and separate the two. Plus they hiss and fight each other all the time. They're not like dogs. They won't get along as easy as dogs will

Totally depends. I got a 2nd cat hoping that they would be friends and entertain each other. Never worked. They mostly ignored each other and occasionally fought. Never played nicely together. I say if you want a second cat, go for it, but don’t assume the cats will get along.

Like others have said, it depends on the cat and I don’t know much about Siamese cats. It would be best to look all that stuff up first. But for myself, there is no such thing as too many cats.

It does honestly depend on the cat. After being the only cat in the house for so long your kitty could be very territorial. 
My husband and I have two cat, but we got the first one when she was a kitten and the second one just a few months later. They love eachother and love to play but it did take the first one a few weeks to adjust.
One thing you could look into is a fostering program just to try it out and see how your kitty reacts. Most shelter have some sort of fostering programs for cat and dogs, so while you get to see if your kitty would be a good playmate another animal gets to have a home until they get adopted. Or you could even try fostering with the intent to adopt. It's just something to think about 😊

I had two cats and I just got rid of them. In my personal opinion it is better to have 0 cats and maybe a dog.

Possibly. I have two cats. Adopted one a year after getting my first one. They love each other to death. They play and snuggle and bathe each other. And of course they get in trouble together. It depends on the cat though bc not all cats especially older ones do well with newcomers.
