Gift card debate

.

A little mild debate for your Monday.

Say you get a gift card from your parents, in-laws, grandparents, or any family member you’re close to and have a good relationship with.

It’s not a big gift card, around $25-$50.

You go to use the gift card and it’s denied at the store or says “not a valid gift card” online.

Do you tell the person who got you the card that it didn’t work? Do you hope/expect them to give you money to replace it/get you a new one? Or do you just say nothing and toss the card and not bother telling them?
