Balloon induction?

Has anybody had induction that started with a balloon to dilate your cervix? What was your experience with it?

It was not the most comfortable thing I've ever experienced. The doctor made it a point to compliment me on being able to stay still and not wince (which took a lot of concentration if I'm being honest). One of the L&D nurses told me that the last time she had put one in, it made the patient throw up and cry and so she (the nurse) refuses to do them anymore. I've seen other women on here who have said that they didn't think they were bad at all though, so it probably all depends on your pain/discomfort threshold. Once it's in though, that's it, it doesn't hurt or cause any discomfort.

It was the worst pain I’ve experienced BUT, the doctor attempting it was very inexperienced and tried over 30 minutes to get it in. Ultimately she couldn’t but, they’d already started pitocin so I was contracting for almost 12 hours without any dilation. 🙄 My doctor got in at 8 AM and immediately put it in with only mild discomfort.

It was very uncomfortable for me and gave me the worst contractions out of the whole labor. But everyone does have different experiences!

It feels weird and uncomfortable. I have a high pain tolerance so I just felt uncomfortable. I didn’t feel pain or myself dilating. It was only in for an hour and a half and then it fell out. I went from 2cm to 5cm.
